About The Position

As a Designer 2 - Men’s Hike, you design comprehensive apparel solutions that align with the Arc’teryx design philosophies, continuously exceeding our guests’ evolving needs. In this highly technical role, you assist in the continued evolution of how we design and approach our Hike apparel offerings, contributing to innovative, relevant and resolved outcomes that fit within our existing collections. You provide resolved solutions that consider materials, feature set, fit, and style to meet specific needs. You bring your curiosity and passion for snow products to imagine and build innovative, relevant designs. Key Products You’ll Be Designing For: Innovating new products for Men’s hike apparel. Designing pants, woven garments, knits, fleece, insulation and gore styles. This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is expected to be performed on-site. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada. We create innovative apparel solutions that work for a variety of activities such as climbing, snow sports, hiking, and trail running. Requirements

A degree in apparel design
5+ years hands-on experience designing clothing
Intermediate knowledge, skill and ability in the technical design process, sewing and garment construction
Technically proficient with 3-5 years’ experience using the Adobe Suite
Proven technical and creative skills to build tech packs, communicate your ideas and a solid understanding of garment construction
Capability to create tools and construction methods to assist in solving construction issues
Collaborative communicator, keen to create relationships and spaces for ideation and product exploration
Demonstrate initiative, agility, and commitment, while balancing autonomy and collaboration
Highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity, and thrive in a fast paced, diverse, ever evolving and values led environment
Strong planning, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
Proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right

Responsibilities

Creating and executing assigned product designs within seasonal timelines to complement existing collections as well as future advanced R&D projects when required
Contributing to the commercialization of innovative technologies including materials, pattern/part shaping and construction techniques for existing and product categories
Creating mockups and prototypes to explore, resolve, or prove new concepts or construction techniques
Providing detailed product initiations to Product Development, including spec drawings, pattern and fit direction, and material information
Collaborating with the Fit & Pattern Team to resolve fit style and construction issues and ensure a fully commercialized product
Coordinating with the Raw Materials team to test new materials and ensure that necessary items are available for prototyping
Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the materials and manufacturing techniques that Arc’teryx works with
Collaborating closely with other Designers to bring new and better toolbox solutions that benefit the brand (such as new technologies, construction techniques, features, etc.)
Staying up to date with industry trends, collaborating with Arc’teryx athletes and other industry representatives to help ensure Arc’teryx is exceeding our guests’ evolving needs
Assisting with current product design changes where necessary to address in-line production issues
Supporting the Design Director in developing a schedule for the flow of the line plan through all development stages, including charting line plan progress
Partnering with Development Team Manager to gain visibility into cost estimates, MOQs and LOM concerns throughout concepting and prototyping for seasonal products
Presenting at internal meetings, design reviews and seasonal stage gates, annual seasonal handoffs and other product meetings as required
Attending tradeshows, company events as well as sourcing and development vendor visits as required
Owning and overseeing all aspects of model creation - from ethos, to plans, through to production, you could grow to oversee hike products
Partnering directly with athletes on product evolutions, feedback insights and relationship building
