About The Position

LMH Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a temporary 16-week position in the Emergency Department. The RN will provide direct nursing care, manage patient information, and lead care coordination based on patient and family healthcare needs. This role involves developing therapeutic relationships, communicating effectively with the clinical team, assessing discharge planning needs, and collaborating as part of an inter-professional team. The position emphasizes patient-centered care, evidence-based practices, safety, and professionalism, including lifelong learning and contributing to nursing best practices. The RN will perform nursing care according to the population served on the unit and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures. Regular and reliable attendance is essential.

Requirements

  • Associates in Nursing or diploma
  • Current Basic life Support for Healthcare Providers
  • Current Registered Nurse license to practice in Kansas

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors in Nursing
  • ACLS within 6 months of hire (ED, ICU/2East or other units)
  • Certification in ACLS and PALS (waives BLS requirement based on department)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Maintain patient information while complying with laws and regulations.
  • Lead the coordination of care for patients by applying effective decision-making skills based on patient/family healthcare needs and priorities.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families promoting decision making based on assessment of patient medical histories, symptoms, examinations, diagnosis, conditions, and treatments.
  • Communicate and collaborate concisely and continuously among the clinical team, including physicians, both verbally and in documentation, focusing on patients' identified problems and needs.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Record and communicate patient conditions as appropriate to optimize their health outcomes.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Utilize information, resources, and technology.
  • Apply nursing processes including Patient/Family, Evidence Based Practices (EBP), safety, and process improvement.
  • Exemplify professionalism: apply lifelong learning; contribute to the science of nursing; participate in governance; share knowledge to expand the scale and scope of best practices with others; build the ethical, moral, and regulatory base for best practices and processes of patient and unit care.
  • Perform nursing care according to the population served on the unit as referenced in the Administrative, Scope of Services Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in line with current basic nursing scope.
