About The Position

KPF, an international architecture practice headquartered in New York City, is seeking a Design Technology Application Specialist to join our New York office. This role focuses on day-to-day BIM inquiries, reinforcing best practices and standards, evaluating applications and add-ins, and documenting workflows to strengthen digital design practice across the firm. The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of experience in an architectural or design technology environment, with a strong foundational understanding of Revit and BIM workflows. This position provides broad exposure to KPF’s Design Technology initiatives and offers opportunities for growth within the firm’s BIM and Digital Practice teams. We are looking for an individual who is curious about emerging technologies, detail-oriented in diagnosing issues, and able to maintain a calm, collaborative demeanor when assisting project teams. This role is not project-assigned; instead, it supports firmwide design technology enablement, standards reinforcement, and application-focused expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Design Technology, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of professional experience in architecture, BIM, or design technology environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit and BIM workflows.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for users of varying experience levels.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated interest in AEC technologies, digital workflows, and continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable interacting with internal stakeholders and collaborating with cross-disciplinary project teams.
  • Proactive learner who approaches new tools and technologies with curiosity and initiative.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud environments.
  • Experience with visual programming tools (Dynamo, Grasshopper) or scripting (Python, C#, etc.).
  • Exposure to model QA/QC workflows and data management concepts.
  • Experience creating visual guides, documenting workflows, or producing training materials.
  • Interest in evaluating emerging software solutions and digital practice tools.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to day-to-day inquiries related to Revit, BIM workflows, templates, and standards, providing guidance aligned with KPF best practices.
  • Assist with the implementation, rollout, and reinforcement of BIM standards, documentation conventions, and model management practices.
  • Test, evaluate, and provide feedback on design technology applications, plugins, and add-ins (e.g., Revit tools, Dynamo packages, Rhino/Grasshopper, internally developed tools).
  • Document workflows, troubleshooting steps, and best practices to expand internal knowledge resources and training materials.
  • Collaborate with BIM and Design Technology leads to identify recurring issues, enhance processes, and support consistency across project teams.
  • Participate in internal testing of new software releases and firm-developed tools to verify functionality, compatibility, and performance.
  • Help organize, maintain, and continuously develop design technology resources and documentation.
  • Provide targeted training sessions to new project teams on standards, new tools, or modeling strategies.
  • Stay informed about Autodesk updates and emerging design technology platforms, sharing relevant insights with the team.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and a collaborative approach when diagnosing and resolving issues with project teams.
