About The Position

ENTRUST Solutions Group, a Leidos company, is hiring a Design Technician to support electric distribution design projects for a major utility in the Greater Chicago and Northern Illinois area. Candidates from entry-level technical professionals to experienced utility designers will be considered. Electric distribution experience is strongly preferred, especially underground distribution, but applicants with related CAD, drafting, engineering technology, construction, or utility infrastructure backgrounds are also welcome. The role supports overhead and underground electric distribution projects in coordination with designers, engineers, project managers, field personnel, construction teams, and the utility client. Work includes developing and maintaining design drawings and construction packages; gathering field information; conducting site visits; assisting with estimates, material takeoffs, permits, and technical documentation; and supporting construction through field verification, design revisions, and issue resolution. Local travel for fieldwork and project coordination is approximately 20%. Projects may include underground distribution installations and conversions, new customer services and system extensions, equipment replacement and relocations, reliability improvements, and system modernization. The position suits someone who is detail-oriented, technically curious, collaborative, and interested in developing or continuing a career in electric distribution design. The hourly pay range is $20.00–$28.00. The specific rate depends on work location and factors including internal equity, skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
