About The Position

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Design Technician II with strong AutoCAD skills to join its Water/Wastewater Engineering team in the Syracuse, New York office. The position supports water, wastewater, and related infrastructure projects by producing and coordinating computer-aided design drawings. The role offers opportunities to expand technical skills and grow within a collaborative team.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2018 or higher.
2–5+ years of related experience.
Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related written communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree (optional).
Certificate from a technical school, preferably in AutoCAD or equivalent.
Experience reading and interpreting utility as-built drawings.
Experience drafting water and sewer systems.

Responsibilities

Perform design, drafting, and project-related tasks on assigned projects.
Transform base map information and designs into CADD-produced drawings using appropriate software.
Assist with setting up and drafting project base maps by analyzing utility drawings, sketches, notes, and other input material.
Produce computer-generated plans, profiles, and section drawings from detailed sketches.
Follow company and client CAD standards, including layering and drawing sheet layout procedures.
Work with project teams to help complete projects.
Coordinate details and dimensions between drawing sheets.
Progress to drafting water, sewer, gas, and related utility design information on base maps.
Take on assignments of increasing difficulty as proficiency grows.
Perform field audits of AutoCAD-drafted base maps to ensure finished plans are complete and accurate.
Coordinate with surveyors and sub-consultants to resolve survey deliverable matters.
