About The Position

In this role, “bridge” refers to the structural side of transportation—designing and detailing bridges and related structures that carry roadways over rivers, railroads, and other obstacles. In this position, you’ll support engineers in developing bridge and structural plans, including drafting, modeling, and detailing. You’ll help translate engineering concepts into construction-ready drawings and ensure plans meet required standards and specifications. You’ll also coordinate with roadway, geotechnical, and other disciplines so the full project comes together correctly. We’re looking for someone with experience in drafting or design support (transportation or structural preferred), familiarity with tools like MicroStation, OpenRoads, or AutoCAD, and an interest in building skills in bridge and structural design within a consulting environment.

Requirements

• Experience in drafting or design support (transportation or structural preferred)
• Familiarity with tools like MicroStation, OpenRoads, or AutoCAD
• Ability to work independently and with others
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skill
• Knowledge and skill in determining project requirements
• Strong work ethic
• Experience with computer aided drafting and modeling using industry accepted software
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office and Bluebeam
• Must have advanced computer and applications knowledge
• Meet and understand critical deadlines through efficient time management and effective communication
• Understanding relevant design tasks for coordination with other disciplines
• Proficiency in AutoCAD

• Interest in building skills in bridge and structural design within a consulting environment

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering design and coordinate with other design staff for construction document and specification production
• Completes design tasks for associated design projects. Tasks include but are not limited to design, drafting, calculations and cost estimating
• Assist with design computations
• Uses experience, education, and judgement to make informed decisions. Retains knowledge and builds on previous experiences to increase capabilities in breadth and complexity
• Organizes multiple projects and tasks and completes them in a timely manner, on schedule, and per PEC Standards
• Organizes project information and drawings files in a manner that is accessible and understandable for current and future use
• Effectively communicates and coordinates with the Design Team to complete design tasks on numerous projects
• Reviews project submittits for compliance with design checklists and drafting standards
• Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion
