About The Position

The Design Systems Engineer acts as the primary interface between the Chief Engineer group and Product Release Center. They will be primarily responsible for managing the system, interfaces, and interactions between components/subsystems of the gear reducer and driveline system. This role involves managing hardware system design reviews, interfacing with various teams and suppliers, and ensuring robust design controls and documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree field
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Automotive Engineering and/or Geared Systems

Nice To Haves

  • MSME or equivalent engineering degree
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Transmission and/or Driveline Engineering
  • Knowledge of Stellantis engineering systems

Responsibilities

  • Driveline, Axles and 4WD hardware system responsible (integration and system balancing)
  • Interfacing with individual COEs, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Development Validation Center
  • Scheduling hardware system design reviews across PRC and reviewing DRE design proposals
  • Organizing reviews with Virtual Analysis / CAE team and ensuring Virtual DVP / Scorecard is completed prior to any prototype hardware orders
  • Managing Transmission and/or Driveline System and Interface DFMEA / DRBFM (team) reviews
  • Managing Assembly (BOM) Part# Complexity Charts including all Transmission, Gear Reducer and/or Driveline Systems
  • Managing BRT (Build Readiness Team) for prototype orders; confirming proto hardware orders and procurement to meet program build(s) milestones
  • Coordinating BOM and experimental builds with Assistant Chief Engineer
  • Leading and managing build readiness tasks (build fixtures, test fixtures, dyno support)
  • Supporting Chief Engineer & Assistant Chief Engineer to develop manpower needs and ER&D/ED&D Cost Roll-ups
  • Reviewing and approving all change notices
  • Leading Technical Cost Reductions (TCRs) / Value Optimization (VO) effort and alignment
  • Representing Chief Engineer in managing the “lessons learned” document for the program
  • Reviewing Transmission and/or driveline system and applicable component “Validation Completion” status with DVC team
  • Coordinating DRBTR review and keeper of “follow up items” and decision maker on issuing GIMS for buds of problems
  • Managing Quality Initiative and GIMS cross functional task force teams
  • Elevating resource issues as needed
  • Working on special projects as needed
