About The Position
Dogwood Industries is seeking an experienced Design Supervisor to lead our CAD Design team and support engineering, manufacturing, and project execution across multiple projects. In this role, you will oversee drawing production, quality control, design standards, and team development while serving as the primary link between the Design team and Design Manager.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in CAD, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of CAD design experience and 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks.
- Working knowledge of AISC standards, structural steel construction practices, and applicable building codes.
- Strong understanding of AWS code
- Experience with structural steel, fabrication, and/or construction-related design.
- Knowledge of PDM systems, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Microsoft 365.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction, lead, mentor, and develop a team of CAD designers.
- Produce, review and deliver accurate, complete and timely SolidWorks models, fabrication drawings, and design documentation.
- Manage workloads, schedules, and design resources to meet project deadlines.
- Oversee design requests and coordinate priorities with Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Project Management.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality across all CAD deliverables.
- Communicate schedule concerns and technical issues to management.
- Develop and maintain design standards, SOPs, templates, and seed model libraries.
- Identify potential fabrication, erection, and constructability issues before drawings are released for production.
- Oversee BOM releases and support ERP part setup and standardization efforts.
- Conduct design reviews and manage drawing revision requests from production.
- Serve as a technical resource to manufacturing teams and help resolve design-related issues.
- Assist in developing KPI’s and a visual management system.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and customer focus with design and detailing processes, standards, templates, and workflows.
