The Air Launched Effectors Department is searching for a Mechanical Engineer to assist in completing drawings and TDPs for various products and subsystems. The primary work location will be on-site at the Raytheon Tucson office. Some travel may be required to meet and work with vendors and to support testing and other activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience. In absence of a degree, 6+ years of experience. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.​ U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance​
  • Experience in 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of professional experience within Defense and/or Aerospace Industry
  • Advanced degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in engineering drawing practices and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5.
  • Ability to work in teams or independently; flexible, motivated and demonstrating initiative.
  • Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis, energetics principals, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development.
  • Experience with RCCA, FMECA and DFMA practices.
  • Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of complex scope and complexity.
  • Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with other engineers to complete drawings, models, and other TDP documentation by interfacing with other non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to properly capture and document complex detailed designs and large assemblies.
  • Prepare technical justification analysis reports, was/is documentation and present to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.
  • Communicate with cross-functional engineering team members and suppliers to design, model, and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance to requirements to peers, leadership (ERB/CCB), and customers.
  • Work under limited supervision and act as the responsible design authority
  • Application of geometric and tolerancing best practices will be a critical skill set to be successful in this position.

  • Perform work in proprietary spaces may be required based on program assignment.
  • Some travel may be required to meet and work with vendors and to support testing and other activities as needed.
