  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering , Industrial and Systems Engineering , or Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience developing and executing technical solutions for mechanical components to support new vehicle programs
  • Previous seat development experience
  • Demonstrated ability to balance business imperatives, including cost, mass, complexity, and timing
  • Comfortable working with multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment with ambiguity and forward-looking requirements
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) – Green Belt certification
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) – Black Belt certification

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Familiarity with structured problem-solving methods (e.g., Red-X)
  • Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, and GD&T

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, analysis, implementation, and validation of complex seat subsystems
  • Perform engineering design evaluations and concept development across vehicle programs using a DFSS approach
  • Utilize engineering tools ( DFMEA, ICDs, PFMEA ) and leverage CAE groups, including Safety Performance, to develop robust system design solutions
  • Complete DFMEAs (FIT) on time and with high quality
  • Package components, manage CAD development through suppliers or GM designers, and collaborate with other vehicle systems
  • Ensure best practices are incorporated in CAD models and seek support when best practices are not met
  • Work cross-functionally to support initial vehicle configuration, cost optimization, customer-driven requirements, and product/process improvements
  • Balance key business imperatives, including cost, mass, complexity, timing, and content
  • Communicate information to and from internal and external customer organizations (e.g., Creative Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers) and lead the Product Development Team (PDT)
  • Track and help resolve open issues with appropriate support
  • Review, support, and apply benchmarking to ensure competitive design direction
  • Support SVI team objectives through early engagement
  • Understand customer needs and architecture limitations to guide design decisions
  • Integrate components, occupants, and seating systems into a cohesive solution
