Design Release Engineer - Interior Hard Trim Components

StellantisAuburn Hills, MI
Onsite

About The Position

The Design and Release Engineer will be responsible for developing initial design concepts through full volume production. This role involves providing feasibility input for designs originating from Product Design Office (PDO) concepts, sketches, and clay models. The engineer will establish and manage development timelines for the entire project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include developing functional objectives, build objectives, DVP&R, and DFMEA. The engineer will lead design efforts, utilizing external design sources and/or internal CAD resources. A critical part of the role is the release of completed geometry using CATIA/NX CAD tools, validating virtual designs through CAE, and conducting physical validation via component, system, and vehicle level testing. The engineer will manage internal documentation for system releases, plan and oversee tool construction and production assemblies, and provide on-site support for vehicle pilot builds and production launches at the assembly plant. Additionally, the role requires responsibility for root cause analysis and corrective action determination for issues related to assembly, fit/finish, and functional performance, as well as analyzing and remediating warranty issues and identifying cost reduction opportunities on production components.
