About The Position

The Design Product Engineer (EIT) is responsible for providing structural designs for a full range of precast products manufactured by Precast Infrastructure plants, including vaults, pipe, box culverts, catch basins, manholes, and wingwalls. This role requires the ability to become knowledgeable with design concepts and theory for all current products, analyze civil plans and specifications, and prepare and review project-specific CAD drawings. The engineer will also understand concrete mix designs, serve as a technical resource for manufacturing plants, assist in submittal preparation and approval, and review production drawings. Additionally, the position involves preparing and reviewing bills of material (BOMs), supporting cost savings projects, communicating design-related information to various teams (sales, engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, quality), and engaging with precast industry associations and external engineers. The role also requires compliance with company policies and core values: Accountability, Commitment, and Teamwork. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to read, write and speak in English language.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced growing role and department.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to work with sales, engineering, drafting and production teams to turn projects over in a timely manner.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Basic knowledge of ACI 318, AASHTO LRFD, and other applicable design codes.
  • Ability to use various computer programs, including AutoCAD, Solidworks, and MathCAD with a minimum of one year experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • Precast and/or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • E.I.T Certification (or the ability to obtain with 6 months of hire).
  • Preferred Concrete Design course.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and support project sales representatives, engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and quality teams on design related questions and/or issues.
  • Engage with and participate in precast industry specific associations (MSPCA, APCA, NPCA, etc.).
  • Work with engineers for public utilities, government entities, and other vendors.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
