About The Position

Pratt Miller, an Oshkosh company, is a product development firm specializing in motorsports, defense, and mobility industries. They offer clients product engineering and low-volume production solutions, encompassing research & development, engineering, prototype manufacturing, test & validation, and low-rate production. The company seeks managers with engineering backgrounds to lead agile engineering teams on innovative projects, developing high-performance systems and products. Ideal candidates will have a strong foundation in systems thinking, analytical approaches, and engineering fundamentals, with experience in full vehicle or sub-system development.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Aerospace, or Automotive.
  • Working level background in MS Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong technical writing, team leadership skills, and organizational skills.
  • This specific role supports a US DoD topic that is restricted to US Citizens.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience with focus on the automotive, defense, powersports, or robotics industries.

  • MS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Previous engineering leadership experience.
  • Experience generating engineering proposals and work estimations.
  • Creo, NX, Catia, or Solidworks CAD experience.
  • Windchill or Teamcenter PLM experience.
  • Experience in parametric 3D modeling and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • ANSYS, Hypermesh, or other FEA tool experience.
  • Dymola or other dynamic system modelling experience.
  • Active security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design engineering efforts with a team using CAD and FEA tools, develop timing plans and task tracking, risk mitigation focused on project deliverables.
  • Lead regular project meetings, both internally and with the customer, to ensure team alignment, consistent communication, and successful project execution.
  • Formal technical reporting on project status to the customer.
  • Manages professional employees and/or team leads.
  • Experience in prototype and production design and manufacturing.
  • System requirements development and decomposition to components.
  • Key life testing, failure analysis, root cause analysis, design verification, and QA plans.
  • Define team operating standards and ensure essential procedures are followed.
  • Lead department technology growth and develop training plans.
  • System and component design and/or reviews using parametric CAD tools.
  • System and component modeling and/or reviews using Finite Element Analysis tools.
  • CAE optimization methods and tools.
  • Lead system level modeling and simulations efforts.
  • Responsible for supporting business development including project quoting.
