About The Position

Lead people, elevate design standards, and help shape distinctive high-design residential work. This is a hands-on leadership role for an architect or design leader who thrives in a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment. You will guide design teams, strengthen workflows, influence the quality of custom residential projects, and still have opportunities to contribute directly to high-profile design work. The project team has meaningful influence on design through production, creating room for your ideas, judgment, and design leadership to matter. Manage designer workloads while coaching, mentoring, interviewing, hiring, and training design staff. Provide architectural design direction and oversight, contribute as a designer when needed, and support high-profile custom residential projects. Partner with leadership and teams in construction, operations, purchasing, sales, marketing, accounting, and visualization to improve project outcomes. Create, refine, document, and train design processes and standards so teams can work more efficiently and consistently. The culture emphasizes weekly one-on-ones, hands-on learning, an open workspace, and collaboration across levels of the firm.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of residential and/or hospitality architectural experience within an architecture, homebuilding, or hands-on construction environment.
  • 3+ years of architectural management experience, including leading design teams and establishing priorities and expectations.
  • Professional Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited Architecture program.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to pivot, motivate, develop, and hold teams accountable in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional professionalism, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Routine proficiency with SketchUp, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
  • Self-directed working style and the ability to manage multiple priorities with limited day-to-day handholding.

Nice To Haves

  • Architectural registration preferred, or active progress toward licensure.
  • familiarity with Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion, and Enscape is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with design leadership to maintain a high standard of performance and advance design quality through aligned operations, strong teamwork, and proactive problem solving.
  • Ensure project design direction reflects the firm’s design ethos, standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Lead designer staffing and workload distribution across multiple active projects.
  • Coach, mentor, train, interview, and hire design talent while setting clear expectations and holding teams accountable.
  • Create, monitor, update, document, and train processes and procedures for design-related work.
  • Promote consistent use of design technology, including SketchUp, Revit, Bluebeam, and related visualization tools.
  • Collaborate with visualization teams and support client-facing design presentations, models, and project assets.
  • Provide architectural design direction and oversight for custom residential work and step in as a designer on high-profile projects when needed.
  • Support sales and marketing teams with design insight and accurate design collateral as appropriate.
  • Help coordinate a design committee, keeping discussions focused on current priorities and design standards.
