About The Position

Cerbo · OptiMantra is a healthcare technology company seeking a Design Lead to own the design function across both Cerbo and OptiMantra platforms. This is a player-coach role where you will build the design standards, team, and culture from scratch. You will be responsible for the end-to-end user experience of two distinct products, partnering closely with Product and Engineering, conducting user research, designing for AI, and shipping production-ready designs. This role offers significant autonomy and visibility, with the opportunity to shape the future of healthcare technology. Cerbo is designed for clinical depth with deep configuration and protocol-specific workflows, while OptiMantra is structured for scale with multi-modality breadth and operational infrastructure. The Design Lead will manage these distinct design philosophies while ensuring a cohesive user experience across both platforms.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product design experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading a design team or function.
  • A portfolio showcasing complex workflows, data-dense screens, onboarding flows, and clean UI.
  • Systems thinking ability, with experience building design systems.
  • Proficiency in both UX and UI design.
  • Expertise in Figma.
  • Experience managing designers (employees or contractors), including setting direction, providing feedback, and managing quality.
  • Comfort working with two products with different design philosophies.
  • Technical fluency to partner with front-end engineers on implementation.
  • Clear communication skills to present design rationale to stakeholders.
  • Understanding of responsive design and accessibility.
  • Ability to deliver designs feasible within a sprint.
  • Experience using AI in the design process (prototyping, research synthesis, content generation).

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare, EHR/EMR, or clinical software design experience.
  • Experience designing AI-powered features (e.g., ambient documentation, clinical decision support, intelligent automation).
  • Experience building a design system from scratch in a multi-product environment.
  • Motion design or advanced prototyping skills (Framer, Principle, or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Build the design function, establishing design standards, a component library, and a shared design system for two distinct platforms.
  • Own the end-to-end user experience for both Cerbo (power-user, configuration-heavy) and OptiMantra (clean, guided, role-based) platforms, maintaining their unique UX visions.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering, participating in discovery, reviewing specs, challenging assumptions, and advocating for design solutions.
  • Conduct user research, including usability sessions and workflow observations, to inform design decisions.
  • Shape the product experience for AI-driven features, including intelligent workflows and predictive tooling.
  • Prototype, test, iterate, and deliver production-ready designs in a fast-paced environment.
