About The Position

The Design Lead, reporting to the A220 Cockpit Engineering Manager, is primarily responsible for ensuring the technical compliance of the design for the structure and systems installations within their assigned scope. This role involves analyzing and implementing changes, acting as a technical interface with clients and suppliers, resolving non-conformity issues, and providing technical visibility to management and the program. The Design Lead will also recommend and approve design modifications, analyze complex problems, define design plans, and provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to teams.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or a Technical DEC with years of work experience directly related to the position's responsibilities.
  • Knowledge in design, and manufacturing processes and requirements related to the fabrication of primary and secondary structures.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in aerostructure design.
  • Knowledge of airworthiness requirements (TCCA, FAA, EASA) impacting aerostructures and systems installations.
  • Knowledge of aeronautical design processes and methods (Airbus Atlantic, Bombardier, Airbus Canada Processes and Methods).
  • Knowledge of configuration management rules.
  • Knowledge in project management and change management.
  • Knowledge in CATIA and ENOVIA.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Bilingual English / French (verbal and written).
  • Awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the analysis and implementation of changes with the program, supply chain, production, and customers.
  • Ensure technical interface with the client counterpart and technical interface with suppliers.
  • Intervene and provide expertise to resolve non-conformity issues with parts and assembly line problems.
  • Provide visibility on the technical scope to hierarchy and the program (technical summaries, technical progress status, identification of technical risks).
  • Recommend and approve design modifications and technical documentation.
  • Analyze complex problems, organize investigations, find root causes, and recommend solutions.
  • May act as a technical authority in their area of expertise.
  • Define plans and coordinate assigned design activities.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, and training on a regular basis to teams of professionals or technologists.
