About The Position

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in college education or heavy college coursework in the field of drafting, design, and engineering.
  • Good communicator with customers and sales staff.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • The individual will be open to learning the following: Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
  • The individual will be open to learning the following: Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the supervisor find areas that require improvement.
  • The individual will be open to learning the following: Budget development, adherence and analysis.
  • The individual will be open to learning the following: Quality standards.
  • The individual will be open to learning the following: Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Designer and design team to support ongoing projects.
  • Assist in specifying and designing boxes tailored to client needs.
  • Operate the CAD table to create and modify designs.
  • Complete Design Request Quotations (DRQs) accurately and efficiently.
  • Gain an understanding of different board grades and their applications in packaging.
  • Learn the basics of routing and machinery used in the converting process.
  • Design marketing leave-behinds to support sales efforts.
  • Develop foundational skills in graphic design relevant to packaging.
  • Explore various box styles and their functional uses in different industries.
