About The Position

The Design Engineering Mechanical Test Technician will join our design engineering project/test group to support development testing, qualification testing, and customer field support related to our family of product lines that provide fire protection systems to our commercial aviation, military, and commercial ground vehicle customers. This role is responsible for chamber programming, testing, and troubleshooting of current products and development programs, hardware and software for aerospace products supported by the Engineering Test group. Responsibilities include data capture, documentation, and implementation for DO-160 - MIL-STD-810 environmental type testing. The technician will provide technical input for new or modifications to existing data acquisition systems and test setups, execute tests per procedures, and provide information to help develop plans, procedures, and reports. Hands-on experience is required in areas such as basic electric wiring, mechanical and hydraulic test systems knowledge, pressure systems, fixture fabrication, and data acquisition and instrumentation setup. The role also involves interfacing with customers, Systems Engineers, and Program Managers to address compliance issues and ordering materials and equipment as needed. Ensuring tests are properly set up and instrumented is also a key part of the role, as is supporting Test Engineers in their execution of similar activities.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • General knowledge of hand tools and ability to use them.

  • Willingness to learn current test methods that utilize systems such as, pressure systems, test fixture fabrication, data acquisition and instrumentation set up.
  • Demonstrates communication skills with the manager or test engineer, and be effective at expressing status, issues/concerns, and successes.

Responsibilities
