About The Position

The Design Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers and drafters responsible for designing and developing complex cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and fiber optic interconnect systems. The role emphasizes harness architecture, detailed interconnect design, routing, breakout configuration, labeling, and build documentation. The manager provides technical support for existing products throughout their lifecycle and partners with product management, operations, sales, and other functions to ensure design accuracy, manufacturability, and successful program execution. The position manages a team of 5–10 design engineers and drafters, overseeing hiring, performance management, career development, and workload and resource planning across concurrent programs. It establishes design standards and review and mentoring practices, directs engineering deliverables to program schedules, reviews and approves designs and change orders, and leads investigations and corrective actions for design-related quality escapes. The role also supports proposals, customer design coordination, engineering audits, and process improvements, including standardization of SolidWorks CAD/PDM workflows and drawing templates.
