About The Position

Polymer Concepts Technologies PBY, Inc. KRS Division dba Kaydon Ring & Seal (KRS) serves aerospace and industrial applications with customer-focused, application-specific mechanical sealing products manufactured in small quantities and lots. Its products require complex design, high quality standards, and traceability. The internship program involves interns in the design, development, manufacturing, and quality assurance of high-performance mechanical sealing solutions, applying learned concepts to ongoing projects and developing new skills.

The Design Engineering Intern supports the design engineering team with assigned projects and tasks, researches and develops testing for validation, and works with mentor(s) on a multi-week project. The role is based at the Hanover, Pennsylvania facility during Spring and Summer 2027. Work is performed in an office environment while supporting the manufacturing environment, with regular on-site presence required.

Requirements

• Be a current sophomore or junior attending a four-year accredited university or college in manufacturing, mechanical, or a related engineering field.
• Have a minimum GPA of 2.8.
• Understand 3D CAD software and SolidWorks.
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Be a U.S. Person due to ITAR compliance.
• Be able to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
• Be able to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with hand tools and safety equipment.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Follow and support company safety, quality, and other company policies.
• Support the design engineering team and assist with projects and tasks.
• Work with mentor(s) on a multi-week assigned project.
• Research and develop testing for validation.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and apply engineering principles to solve problems.
• Complete other duties assigned by management.
