Design Engineer - Contract
About The Position
DISHER is seeking a Design Engineer for a six-month project starting November 1, 2026. This full-time, onsite position in Portage, Michigan will support the design of components and subsystems for a medical device frame and assist with development and verification testing. The role requires strong Creo skills and the ability to design, build, test, and manufacture components and subsystems. The engineer will design a siderail subsystem to meet functional, aesthetic, testing, and durability requirements, and contribute to project design, assembly, development, and verification testing. The position is onsite five days a week, 40 hours per week.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Creo.
- Experience designing and manufacturing injection-molded, sheet-metal, and powder-metal components.
- Experience designing and manufacturing mechanisms.
- Knowledge of mechanical design engineering, including design, build, test, and system integration.
- Understanding of mechanical joining, fastening, and assembly.
- Experience with stack-up analysis.
Responsibilities
- Design a siderail subsystem that meets functional, aesthetic, testing, and durability requirements.
- Contribute to project design, assembly, development, and verification testing.
- Prepare engineering drawings and specifications.
