About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Design Engineer to help with the design and analysis of mechanical structures and components. This role involves developing innovative products using 3D modeling software and ensuring design accuracy through testing and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • FE certificate
  • Proficient in engineering design software – 3D and 2D (SolidWorks, Onshape, and AutoCAD preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Structural Design – Welded steel structures.
  • Understanding and use of MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, etc.)
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal daily direction from manager
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a customer service focus with all levels of employees
  • Strong desire to learn

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience working with SolidWorks or Onshape in engineering environment
  • CSWA
  • CSWP
  • Mechanical skills and experience with heavy trucks and equipment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of design and analysis of mechanical structures and components
  • Deep understanding of Bill of Material (BOM) structures
  • Develop new products using 3D solid modeling software (SolidWorks/Onshape)
  • Create detail drawings of 3D models (SolidWorks/Onshape)
  • Work with procurement team to order prototype parts and manage creation of prototypes
  • Create test procedures and work with testing dept to implement functional, structural, and stability testing
  • Make modifications to new designs based on results of testing
  • Evaluate machine weight and balance for road worthiness and crane stability
  • Create sales support drawings
  • Analyze product failures, develop repairs and redesign accordingly
  • Assist technical publications in creation of manuals (parts books, service manuals, operator manuals)
  • Serve as a liaison between the shop floor and the engineering department, troubleshooting design issues, clarifying prints, and supporting production needs
  • Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in a timely and organized manner, and give recommendations on implementation
