About The Position

Pratt Miller, an Oshkosh company, is a product development firm specializing in the motorsports, defense, and mobility industries. They offer clients product engineering and low-volume production solutions, encompassing research & development, engineering, prototype manufacturing, test & validation, and low-rate production. This role is for a mid-level design engineer focused on product and system design and development, specifically for the Pratt Miller NASCAR program. The position requires onsite support in the Huntersville, NC office. The core responsibilities involve mechanical system design using CAD and structural analysis (FEA), supported by systems modeling. The engineer will be involved from initial concepts through detailed drawing execution, working within a project team under a design team lead, and is expected to have system-level design responsibility.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3yrs engineering employment experience.
  • BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in NX parametric 3D modeling and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Experience in the motorsports industry
  • Composite, mold and tooling design and analysis experience
  • Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Vehicle and Product System Design and Development.
  • System physics modeling and characterization.
  • CAD system and component concept development and packaging.
  • Application of linear-static Finite Element Analysis in design optimization.
  • Technical drawing generation.
  • Prepare and present project status reports.
  • Test design, development, and reporting (DVP&R).
  • Support and resolve customer problems using mechanical, analytical, CAE and project management skills.
  • Prepare technical specifications for use by Pratt Miller Engineering.
  • Develop testing methods and procedures for use by Pratt Miller Engineering.
  • Investigate alternative business opportunities.
  • Support manufacturing by answering questions and responding to ECRs.
  • Present results to and take direction from external customers.
