About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Design Engineer to serve as a Structural and Payload Design Engineer for our team in El Segundo, CA to focus on antenna structures. This position is expected to be fully onsite in El Segundo, CA.

Requirements

Ability, after starting in the role, to get a TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
Years of related experience: 3+ for level 3, 5+ for level 4.
Experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
Experience in Space Hardware environments, such as satellites.
Experience with structural engineering, payload engineering, or systems engineering.
Experience with composite materials and processes, such as honeycomb sandwich panels, carbon fiber layups, graphite layups.
If not already within commuting distance of El Segundo, CA, willingness and ability to relocate at own expense.
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret/SCI Clearance Post-Start is required.

Responsibilities

Develop, integrate, and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
Develop, maintain, and modify basic structural and interior payload system and component designs using 3-D CAD tools (such as Creo Parametric) and other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
Validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
Manage supplier development and test and production activities.
Coordination with suppliers to optimize design and achieve program goals.
Develop new design and analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
