About The Position

As a Design Engineer at Leer, Inc., you will be responsible for driving innovation throughout the full life cycle of new product designs, subassemblies, and components. This includes developing product improvements, calculating and validating critical mechanical and/or electrical design parameters to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective designs. You will collaborate with various teams, consultants, suppliers, and manufacturing to develop concepts, resolve design issues, and implement designs into production, meeting specific cost, timeline, and specification targets. Your role will also involve preparing 3D CAD models and drawings, creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation like BOMs and work instructions, and supporting production goals related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost improvements. You will contribute to a collaborative team environment by supporting cross-functional initiatives. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering related field, or equivalent experience with at least 2 years product design experience
  • A deep understanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, stampings, aluminum and steel weldments, and precision machining
  • Advanced proficiency in 3D Solid modeling
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects with strict deadlines
  • Demonstrated skills in engineering project management and organizational efficiency
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to travel (up to 10% internationally) to support our global partners
  • A self-motivated professional with a proven track record of meeting delivery milestones
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization

Nice To Haves

  • SolidWorks experience preferred
  • Experience with Refrigeration, Electro-Mechanical design, or Lean Manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Drive the full life cycle of new product designs, subassemblies, and components
  • Develop product improvements as either product line extensions or value engineering cost savings
  • Calculate and validate critical mechanical and/or electrical design parameters ensuring safe, reliable and cost-effective designs
  • Collaborate with product development team, consultants, suppliers, and manufacturing to develop concepts, resolve design issues, and implement designs into production that meet cost, timeline, and specification targets
  • Prepare 3D CAD models and drawings for components and assemblies
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including BOM’s, drawings, and work instructions for new and existing products
  • Support production to achieve goals related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost improvements
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by supporting cross-functional initiatives
