This role involves managing the end-to-end workflow for concessions, including preparation, writing, validation, and coordination with stakeholders. The Design Engineer will provide on-call/on-duty support (standby and active, weekdays and non-weekdays) and shopfloor support. Responsibilities include technical studies, 3D part design, flight test support, and Special Instruction (SI) management. The role requires reviewing concession data for completeness and accuracy, analyzing deviations from engineering drawings, specifications, standards, or process requirements, and coordinating with the Quality team for clarifications related to non-conformances. The engineer will liaise with multiple functions to ensure the most appropriate repair solution is met, considering cost, time, performance, and installation requirements. Coordination with Supply Chain on the availability of rare repair fasteners is also part of the role. The engineer will provide disposition decisions (use-as-is, repair, rework, scrap, return to supplier), identify repeating issues and escalate for corrective action, and propose design improvements to Engineering on repetitive defects and manufacturing teams to strengthen process controls. If required, the engineer will design special parts to resolve nonconformity and review concessions to recommend design change requests if nonconformity is caused by a design issue. The role also involves managing engineering data, documentation, and deliverables in compliance with quality and configuration requirements, supporting digital continuity initiatives, and contributing to continuous improvement in design and communication processes. Additionally, the engineer will serve as a technical representative for onsite-offshore coordination, addressing queries, Return to Task (RTT) clarifications, and technical escalations.
