About The Position

Raymond Storage Concepts is a leading provider of customized material handling solutions, dedicated to warehouse and fleet optimization. The Design Engineer's primary focus is to assist with the design, layout, and quoting process for Engineered Solutions projects, including static rack, dynamic rack, modular offices, shelving, and mezzanines. This role involves utilizing AutoCAD to create layouts, developing bills of materials, and collaborating with vendor partners to generate project costing and customer proposals. Once an order is received, the Design Engineer will assist with ordering project materials and generating necessary drawings and information for implementation.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the material handling industry
  • Basic understanding of pallet racking systems and warehouse storage solutions
  • Basic understanding of automated pallet-handling equipment (conveyors, transfers, turntables, lifts)
  • Ability to read and interpret layout drawings and technical specifications
  • Minimum (2) years’ experience and proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Project engineering and cross-functional coordination skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Detail-oriented, process-driven work style
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects
  • Self-starter who performs well under pressure

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing or warehouse process optimization
  • Experience with Hytrol conveyors and HyCAD
  • Experience with the proposal and estimate creation process

Responsibilities

  • Review RFQs, bid packages, drawings, and specifications for pallet rack and storage system projects
  • Generate detailed system layout drawings in AutoCAD format
  • Perform detailed material takeoffs for selective rack, drive-in, pushback, pallet flow, and specialty storage systems
  • Develop accurate cost estimates including materials, accessories, freight, installation, and subcontracted services
  • Generate formal quotations and proposal documents for customer submission
  • Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to obtain current pricing and lead times
  • Assist with evaluating project scope for completeness and identify risks, exclusions, and assumptions
  • Develop optimized system layouts and value-engineered solutions
  • Ensure designs and estimates comply with applicable codes (IBC, RMI, local seismic requirements, etc.)
  • Participate in project handoff meetings with project management and operations after award
  • Generate system bill of materials, spare parts lists and orders equipment and services for projects
  • Support change order pricing and scope revisions as required
  • Generate budgetary (ROM) estimates during early project phases
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams and customers regarding scope and technical clarifications
  • Participating in visits to customer facilities, as needed to document existing conditions, as well as identifying opportunities to improve, expand or upgrade systems
  • Supports additional projects and cross-functional initiatives aligned to business needs
