The Design Engineer will conduct store visits to reverse engineer retail fixtures while capturing detailed documentation such as photos, sketches, and key observations. They will also assist with installation drawings and 3D print samples for fit, function, and validation testing.

Requirements

  • Metal Fabrication, Plastics and Acrylics, Millwork
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience using CAD and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software to convert ideas to models and drawings
  • Experience in product design and manufacturing
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Conduct store visits to reverse engineer retail fixtures.
  • Capture detailed documentation such as photos, sketches, and key observations.
  • Assist with installation drawings.
  • Create 3D print samples for fit, function, and validation testing.
  • Field surveys to identify construction methods, materials, and potential failure points.
  • Translate findings into clear, usable engineering inputs (drawings, markups, summaries).
  • Execute engineering changes and standard project tasks.
  • Compare approach, design decisions, and final outputs.
  • Participate in review discussions to understand tradeoffs and decision making.
  • Contribute to AI driven efficiency improvements within engineering workflows.
  • Support implementation of small improvements where applicable.
  • Expand and organize hardware/component library to support team.
