About The Position

Morbark LLC is seeking a Design Engineer to join their team in Winn, Michigan. This role involves working on design projects for product modifications and new products, utilizing expertise in steel fabrication, weldments, diesel and gasoline engines, drive trains, hydraulics, and electronic controls. The products range from small hand-fed tree care chippers and stump grinders to large industrial chippers, horizontal and vertical mills, flails, and sawmill equipment.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in design
  • Demonstrated ability to identify applicable design requirements for a given application or product
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees, suppliers and customers
  • Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Effectively establish understand and communicate with individuals at multiple levels of the organization including shop floor and office
  • Formal Problem-Solving training/skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft product suite
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit and model Alamo Group's Leadership Core Competencies: Communication, Business Acumen, Results Driven
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering preferred, will consider associates degree and/or previous work experience in lieu of formal education.
  • 1 – 3 years of design engineering related experience, including internship and co-op experiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Solid Edge CAD software package is desirable
  • Project management experience, interfacing with multiple projects

Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned design and development projects.
  • Provide technical support to sales, production, service, and operations to make and meet commitments.
  • Support manufacturing and updating prints to provide configuration control of product as it is built.
  • Pursue individual goals and objectives and contribute to achievement of department goals and continuous improvement of department processes.
  • Maintain a record of system changes as required.
  • Contribute to systems related troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Identify cost saving opportunities for the product or office.
  • Support other groups and departments as needed.
