About The Position

The Design Engineer will conduct product design and perform engineering development and testing work on assigned projects, either individually or as part of a team. This role involves creating concept and design layouts of complex products or particular systems within a product, and developing and implementing design changes to support internal cost-down initiatives. The engineer will also develop and maintain work schedules, create and check new drawings, and update existing drawings for form, fit, and function, including BOM, tolerance analysis, and material specifications. Additionally, they will create, check, update, and load product bills of material, provide design support and analysis for issues in manufacturing, purchasing, quality control, and the field, and ensure project commitments regarding cost, schedule, function, performance, serviceability, and appearance are met. The role also requires ensuring designs are reviewed for safety considerations and agency requirements, assisting in developing and improving engineering procedures, and performing additional assignments as directed by a supervisor.

Requirements

2D or 3D CAD knowledge, AutoCAD, Solid Works or Pro-E software
Detail oriented
Good graphic ability
Self-starter, able to work with little supervision
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to represent company with a professional image
B.S. degree with a concentration in Engineering or related field and 0-5 years related experience or Equivalent experience as a Designer (minimum 5 years related experience)

Responsibilities

Conduct product design and perform engineering development and testing work on assigned projects, either individually or as part of a team
Create concept and design layouts of complex products or particular systems within a product
Develop and implement design changes in support of internal cost down initiatives
Develop and maintain work schedules on assigned projects
Create and check new drawings and update existing drawings for form, fit, and function. Checks to include BOM, tolerance analysis, material specifications, etc
Create, check, update, and load product bills of material in the system per procedure
Provide design support and analysis for issues arising in manufacturing, purchasing, quality control, and the field
Ensure commitments on projects are met including cost, schedule, function, performance, serviceability, and appearance
Ensure that all designs are reviewed for safety considerations and agency requirements
Assist in developing and improving engineering procedures
Perform additional assignments and/or duties as assigned by supervisor
