About The Position

Worthington Armstrong Venture (WAVE), a joint venture between Worthington Enterprises Inc. and Armstrong World Industries Inc., is a leader in the production of suspended ceiling systems. As a Design Engineer, you will leverage DriveWorks to automate design processes, partnering with Design and Custom Solutions teams to create SolidWorks models and DriveWorks applications. This role aims to accelerate engineering workflows, improve accuracy, and support the expanding portfolio of mission-critical and data center products. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in parametric modeling, an eye for manufacturability, and an interest in engineering automation. You will play a key role in delivering accurate, efficient, customer-specific products while collaborating across Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and IT. Training in DriveWorks will be provided for a talented designer who enjoys solving complex configuration challenges in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience with SolidWorks or another parametric CAD platform.
  • Experience creating manufacturing drawings and assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of parametric modeling principles.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across functions.
  • Eagerness to learn new engineering and automation tools.
  • Familiarity with bills of material, manufacturing processes, tolerances, and engineering change practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data organization, and lookup functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with DriveWorks.
  • Experience with configurable or engineer-to-order products.
  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM or similar product data management software.
  • Knowledge of bills of material and manufacturing processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial equipment, data center, or mission-critical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain SolidWorks parts, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Develop configurable parametric models that support custom products and accommodate varying dimensions, materials, finishes, accessories, and customer requirements.
  • Build and maintain DriveWorks configurators and engineering rules.
  • Validate automated drawings, bills of material, and engineering outputs.
  • Support engineering change implementation and new product introductions.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify product configurations and improve engineering efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Manufacturing, Sales, IT, and Engineering.
  • Translate product requirements and design standards into reliable CAD models, configuration logic, bills of material, and drawing outputs.
  • Support the engineering release of new products, product enhancements, and custom solutions.
  • Implement engineering changes across models, assemblies, drawings, bills of material, and configuration tools.
  • Maintain organized engineering data, product documentation, revision information, and design standards.
