About The Position

Taylor Print & Visual Impressions (TPVI), a division of Taylor Corporation, is looking for a Design Engineer to join their team. This role involves designing and engineering immersive retail, event, and experiential environments to bring brands to life. The Design Engineer will collaborate with Creative, Sales, Manufacturing, and Prototyping teams to transform concepts into innovative physical experiences for customers and support leading brands. The position is suitable for individuals who enjoy balancing creativity with technical problem-solving, developing unique display solutions that are visually impactful, structurally sound, and ready for production. Responsibilities span from retail fixtures and POP displays to trade show exhibits, branded environments, and architectural signage, turning ideas into reality from concept through installation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Design, Exhibit Design, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 2+ years of experience designing custom retail fixtures, experiential environments, exhibits, branded spaces, displays, or related products
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
  • Strong understanding of design principles, materials, and structural concepts
  • Ability to translate creative ideas into manufacturable solutions
  • Experience creating detailed drawings and documentation for fabrication or production
  • Strong visual communication and problem-solving skills
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in retail environments, store design, trade shows, exhibits, experiential marketing, or branded environments
  • Experience designing custom fixtures, casework, millwork, or merchandising systems
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication, extrusion systems, tube structures, and welded assemblies
  • Understanding of CNC routing, laser cutting, fabrication, and finishing processes
  • Experience with prototype development and design iteration
  • Knowledge of architectural signage, dimensional branding, or environmental graphics
  • Rendering or visualization experience using tools such as KeyShot, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Unreal Engine, Revit, or similar platforms
  • A portfolio showcasing retail, experiential, exhibit, architectural, fixture, or display design work

Responsibilities

  • Design custom retail, experiential, and event environments from concept through production
  • Translate creative concepts, renderings, and brand visions into buildable display solutions
  • Develop innovative retail fixtures, branded environments, exhibits, and merchandising displays
  • Create 3D CAD models, shop drawings, fabrication packages, and assembly documentation
  • Engineer retail casework, store fixtures, display structures, and branded installations
  • Collaborate with Creative teams to ensure designs maintain both visual impact and structural integrity
  • Evaluate materials including wood, laminates, metals, composites, acrylics, and hybrid substrates
  • Develop solutions that balance aesthetics, functionality, manufacturability, and cost
  • Partner with Prototype Engineers and manufacturing teams to validate designs and support testing
  • Support installation planning and field execution for custom projects
  • Ensure designs align with production capabilities across fabrication and manufacturing processes
  • Provide technical expertise in support of custom client opportunities
