About The Position

The Design Engineer – Power Distribution designs and develops low-voltage secondary power distribution systems supporting industrial heat tracing and electrical infrastructure projects. This is a mid-career individual contributor role based in Houston on a hybrid schedule.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
3–7 years of low-voltage power distribution design experience.
Industrial experience in Oil & Gas, Chemical, EPC, Manufacturing, Data Centers, or Power Generation.
Strong NEC and IEEE knowledge.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Microsoft Office, and SAP.
Strong analytical, communication, and project coordination skills.
Ability to work independently within a collaborative engineering team.

Nice To Haves

Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
Heat tracing experience.
Experience with Bluebeam, SmartPlant Electrical, ETAP, or Bentley software.

Responsibilities

Design low-voltage secondary power distribution systems for industrial projects.
Perform voltage drop, cable sizing, ampacity/derating, and raceway fill calculations.
Select transformers, panelboards, control panels, breakers, cables, and related equipment.
Prepare cable schedules, panel schedules, equipment layouts, wiring diagrams, raceway routing drawings, bills of material, and installation details.
Review designs for compliance with NEC, IEEE, IEC, customer specifications, and company standards.
Coordinate with Engineering, Project Management, Construction, Procurement, and customers.
Review vendor drawings, technical submittments, and RFIs.
Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and occasional site visits.
Help develop engineering standards, templates, and best practices.
