About The Position

As a Design Engineer, you will shape meaningful municipal infrastructure projects across Nova Scotia. Your work will help create safe, sustainable, and resilient communities—strengthening the places where people live, work, and thrive. In this role, you will make a real-world impact by designing municipal and land development infrastructure including site servicing, watermains, wastewater systems, stormwater management, and roadway networks. You will prepare analyses, calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and reports that guide key project decisions. You will provide technical advisory services and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, CAD technicians, junior staff, and project managers. You will offer mentorship and contribute to the growth of emerging engineering talent within the team. You will support field staff with construction reviews, contract administration, and resolving on-site technical issues. You will liaise with municipal, utility, and regulatory agencies through all phases of project development and approvals. You will prepare RFPs, proposals, and bid documents to support project pursuits and client needs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in municipal engineering or land development for public or private-sector projects.
  • A degree or diploma in Civil or Environmental Engineering and eligibility for P.Eng. designation in Nova Scotia.
  • Strong working knowledge of regional design standards, environmental guidelines, and regulatory processes.
  • Proven design experience involving water, wastewater, stormwater, and/or roadway systems.
  • Familiarity with municipal planning and approval frameworks across Atlantic Canada.
  • A commitment to designing solutions that are sustainable, safe, and community-focused.

  • Experience collaborating with First Nations or Atlantic-region municipalities
