About The Position

HL Mando America Corporation has an opening for the position of Design Engineer III. This role is responsible for the design engineering of automotive brake products, including conventional brake calipers, motor on caliper brake products, electro-mechanical brake calipers, and other foundation brake systems/components. The engineer will translate customer requirements into product designs, execute the design process using CAD modeling, packaging, preliminary CAE, and stack-ups, and participate in design reviews to ensure designs meet all internal and external requirements. The position also involves supporting competitive product proposals, collaborating with multifunctional teams, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements. The role covers component aspects and assists with systems aspects, working closely with application engineers to prepare technical review materials for customers. The engineer will create 3D designs, package them into customer environments, and iterate designs using CAD and FEA for optimal performance versus mass. Responsibilities include creating layouts, BOMs, mass estimates, tolerance stack-ups, 2D drawings, and 3D refinements using CATIA V5. The engineer will update designs based on customer changes, support program timing for engineering deliverables, and manage open issues lists. Providing technical solutions for product performance, supporting PDT meetings, and contributing to gate reviews are also key. The role involves supporting all phases of the Product Development Process (APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, KPC definition), releasing designs on time, and planning builds. The engineer will provide technical solutions for performance issues, support DV and PV testing, and review results. Collaboration with manufacturing reviews, trials, and documentation (control plans, operation sheets, flow charts, capability studies, ISIR and PPAP documentation) is also required.
