About The Position

Mueller Water Products is the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries and has an immediate opening for a Design Engineer III – Simulation. For over 160 years, MWP's manufacturing commitment has ensured one of the world's most precious resources, clean drinking water, reaches millions of people daily. Come be a part of something that sustains and enriches the lives of every human being. As a Design Engineer III – Simulation, you will independently perform finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to support the design, validation, and optimization of mechanical components and assemblies. You will apply established modeling practices to standard and moderately complex problems, delivering high-quality analysis that supports engineering decisions across Mueller's product lines.

  • GD&T knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of casting, machining, and manufacturing processes.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt.
  • FE/EIT or PE certification.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform FEA and CFD analyses including model setup, meshing, boundary condition definition, solving, and post-processing.
  • Evaluate mechanical components and assemblies subjected to static and dynamic loading, thermal effects, pressure, and flow conditions.
  • Apply established modeling practices and methodologies to standard and moderately complex simulation problems.
  • Support design decisions by delivering clear, well-documented analysis results to design, manufacturing, and project teams.
  • Produce formal engineering analysis reports for internal use, documenting assumptions, methods, limitations, and conclusions.
  • Support work in regulated or quality-critical applications, including products used in nuclear, BPVC, and energy/power generation markets.
  • Contribute to design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA) sessions with cross-functional teams.
  • May provide peer input or informal review of simulation work performed by others.
  • Identify and communicate technical risks related to simulation results.
