About The Position

As a Design Engineer II, you will play an important role in the development, launch, and sustainment of YETI products. Working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the design, testing, and validation of innovative products from concept through production. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, learning new manufacturing processes, and creating products that deliver exceptional performance and user experiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
• Greater than five (5) years of experience in product development, mechanical design, or manufacturing engineering.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of engineering fundamentals, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with plastic components and injection molding preferred.
• Experience with metal component fabrication and assembly techniques preferred.
• Familiarity with prototype development, product testing, and validation methods.
• Internship, co-op, or professional experience in consumer product development a plus
• Experience with multi-component assemblies, mechanisms, or structural systems.
• Familiarity with DFMEA, PFMEA, and PPAP processes.
• Experience working with suppliers or manufacturing partners.
• Passion for outdoor products and user-centered product design.

Responsibilities

• Support new product development and existing product sustainment projects under the guidance of senior engineering team members.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and product documentation.
• Participate in concept generation, prototype development, testing, and design validation activities.
• Assist in evaluating product performance, quality, manufacturability, and cost targets.
• Support engineering reviews and provide technical input throughout the product development process.
• Collaborate with Industrial Design, Product Management, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams.
• Conduct root cause analysis and support corrective actions for product and manufacturing issues.
• Coordinate prototype builds, testing activities, and data collection efforts.
• Support suppliers and manufacturing partners during product development and commercialization.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and tools.
• Utilize engineering best practices including DFMEA and other product development tools.
• Maintain organized project documentation and communicate project status.
