Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, or a related engineering field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1 to 2 years of engineering, product design, manufacturing engineering, internship, co-op, or related experience.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Understanding of 2D and 3D design, engineering drawings, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to analyze technical information and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with Engineering, Production, Operations, Sales, and other teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be eligible to receive information controlled under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design customized Pelican case solutions while working closely with Production, Operations, Sales, and other teams to ensure each design meets customer requirements and can be manufactured successfully.
  • Design customized Pelican case solutions, including foam inserts, panel systems, labels, hardware, and other product configurations.
  • Create and modify 2D and 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, layouts, and Bills of Materials.
  • Evaluate designs for fit, function, manufacturability, materials, tolerances, and customer requirements.
  • Support projects from initial concept through prototype development, testing, validation, and production.
  • Select materials and components based on product applications and engineering requirements.
  • Recommend design changes that improve product quality, manufacturability, performance, or cost.
  • Partner with Production and Operations to help turn engineering designs into finished products.
  • Collaborate with Sales and other teams to understand customer requirements and develop practical design solutions.
  • Maintain accurate engineering drawings, revisions, technical documentation, and project files.
  • Support continuous improvement, product enhancement, and cost-reduction projects.
  • Apply engineering principles and design standards to solve technical and manufacturing challenges.
