Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree (BSME or BSMET) or equivalent technical training/certification
  • Two years’ experience at MEP firm with fundamental knowledge of mechanical system design
  • Understanding and knowledge of applicable codes
  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical concepts
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings
  • High degree of analytical skill and ability
  • Possess general understanding of applicable building codes, consults with engineer regarding building code requirements
  • Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems concepts and design
  • Proficiency in Revit / AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with industry software such as Trane Trace, Carrier HAP and other HVAC modeling tools

Nice To Haves

  • Three to seven years’ experience in engineering environment or equivalent field of operation
  • Engineer-in-training (EIT) or ability to obtain
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills and Microsoft Office Teams

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical / HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and layout of devices
  • Participate, promote, and develop company design production standards
  • Make calculations using engineering formulas such as heating and cooling loads and equipment sizing
  • Consulting with Lead Engineer, prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems
  • Research equipment selection from catalogs, under direction of Lead Engineer
  • Handle multiple projects with efficiency and accuracy
  • Receive and follow through with specific or technical instructions
  • Participating in and contributing to a team effort, exchanging ideas and recommending improvements
  • Attend client meetings, as necessary
  • Visit sites to perform inspections, as required (15% local travel)
