About The Position

We're looking for a Design Engineer to join our growing Electric Distribution Design team supporting some of the largest utility providers in the Northeast. Whether you're a recent engineering graduate eager to begin your career or an early-career professional with electric utility experience, this role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful infrastructure projects that help deliver reliable power to homes, businesses, and communities every day. You'll be part of a collaborative team where you'll gain hands-on experience, receive mentorship from experienced utility professionals, and develop technical expertise in electric distribution system design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (Electrical Engineering preferred; related engineering disciplines will also be considered).
  • Internship, co-op, or professional experience supporting electric utilities, power delivery, distribution design, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn electric utility design principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar engineering design software.
  • Familiarity with GIS platforms and mapping tools.
  • Exposure to utility clients such as Eversource, Rhode Island Energy, National Grid, or other electric utilities.
  • Experience with tools such as ArcGIS, Katapult, or PoleForeman.
  • Understanding of electric distribution systems, utility construction practices, or overhead/underground line design.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and technical documentation for electric distribution systems.
  • Develop construction work packages and supporting design documentation.
  • Utilize design software and GIS-based tools to create and maintain utility designs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, senior engineers, designers, and utility clients to support project delivery.
  • Assist with field data collection and verification activities as needed.
  • Support project schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.
  • Participate in client meetings and gain exposure to utility standards and engineering practices.
  • Learn and apply utility design standards, company procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced consulting environment.
