About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Design Engineer to join our San Diego team. The successful candidate will provide engineering design and drafting services. This work requires an understanding of C4I and enterprise IT network systems infrastructure and expertise in 2D renderings, developing, modifying, and maintaining engineering drawings and documentation using computer-aided design (CAD) software to ensure accuracy, compliance, and effective communication of design requirements. Up to 25% of travel required for this role, both domestic and foreign.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering drafting, drawing review, drawing control in the design of electronic/computer network equipment, systems and installations.
  • Produce mechanical, electrical/electronic drawings from rough engineering sketches and preparing drawing layouts from one or more engineering sketches. In addition, examine and check engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications.
  • Participate in computer network installation site surveys and develop Initial Design Plan (IDP).
  • Provide technical expertise in developing, modifying, and maintaining engineering drawings and documentation using computer-aided design (CAD) software to ensure accuracy, compliance, and effective communication of design requirements.
  • Develop drawing packages using existing packages to the maximum extent.
  • Develop, validate, modify, maintain, and utilize drawing packages and drawing trees to reflect the interrelationship of engineering drawings and associated lists.
  • Create and update "As-Built" drawings, red-lined drawings, and Installation Requirements Drawings (IRD).
  • Develop Installation Drawing Packages (IDP), Functional Interface Drawings (FID), and block diagrams (schematic and functional), including all interfaces.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software compatible with existing formats.
  • Develop Technical Data Packages (TDP) and review reports.
  • Ensure all drawings and TDPs comply with established Quality Control Program standards and applicable instructions.
