The Design and Drafting Supervisor is responsible for leading and supervising the design engineering functions for actuators, valves, pumps, and switch technologies at ITT Aerospace Control’s Valencia site. This role provides both technical leadership and people management, ensuring alignment with business objectives, product strategy, and engineering excellence. The position plays a critical role in developing engineering talent, driving product innovation through technical roadmap execution, and ensuring adherence to established engineering processes and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related discipline
  • Proven experience in design engineering with actuation, valve, pump, or switch technologies
  • Experience working within aerospace and defense industries, or other highly regulated industries
  • Familiarity with standards such as AS9100, ISO-9001, or APQP
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience managing engineering teams
  • Strong knowledge of actuators, valves, pumps, switches, or similar technologies
  • Experience with product development processes, from concept through production
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving skills, and emotional intelligence
  • Experience with leadership and team development
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and product roadmap development capabilities
  • Process discipline and continuous improvement mindset
  • Cross-functional collaboration and business acumen
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of design engineers, providing direction, coaching, and mentorship
  • Drive talent development through training, career planning, and succession planning initiatives
  • Conduct performance management, including goal setting, feedback, and performance evaluations
  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and accountable team environment
  • Guide design engineering activities for actuator, valve, pump, and switch product lines
  • Contribute to the development and execution of product technology roadmaps
  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost objectives
  • Provide technical oversight and decision-making support across development programs
  • Enforce adherence to engineering processes, standards, and procedures
  • Ensure accountability for design quality, documentation, and validation practices
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering workflows, tools, and best practices
  • Support business development efforts including proposal development and technical input
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, project, and quality teams
  • Contribute to strategic planning initiatives related to product development and market growth
  • Ensure design deliverables are completed on time and within scope
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks across projects
  • Support successful transition of products from development into production
