About The Position

As a Design Drafter Co-op Intern, you’ll gain real-world experience contributing to the goals of our Drafting team while learning best practices from some of the most skilled engineers in the industry. You’ll have exposure to multiple areas of the business, work alongside subject matter experts, and develop valuable technical and professional skills. Valmont’s internship program is designed to provide a hands-on learning experience through project work, job shadowing, leadership development, and interaction with senior leaders across the company.

Requirements

  • CAD skills, including design applications and the ability to convert drawings to 3D models
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

Nice To Haves

  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Drafting & Design
  • Autodesk Inventor experience

Responsibilities

  • Determine changes, corrections, and requirements to meet project needs
  • Create sketches for use by other designers/drafters
  • Interpret specifications and standards to ensure customer requirements are met or improved
  • Communicate with customers (written and verbal) to resolve specification questions before drawings are prepared
  • Collaborate with team members to develop shop drawings and provide project input
  • Perform other essential tasks as assigned
