About The Position

Frank & Eileen is seeking a Design Director to lead its growing in-house creative team. This role will translate seasonal creative direction into a unified 360° brand experience across all customer touchpoints, including campaign, editorial, email, e-commerce, retail, social, print, and more. Reporting to the CMO and partnering with the Creative Growth team, the Design Director will be a creative partner, comfortable shaping original ideas and guiding them to refined, channel-right execution. The role involves a balance of leading the team's output and contributing hands-on design work for key brand moments. The ideal candidate possesses a strong editorial and lifestyle sensibility, a refined eye for typography and composition, and the ability to move fluidly between conceptual thinking and execution. They will lead, mentor, and design, shaping the work through production and ensuring craft, detail, and channel-specific elements elevate the brand experience.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional design experience, with meaningful time in fashion, lifestyle, beauty, wellness, or premium consumer brands.
  • A portfolio demonstrating both conceptual range and refined craft across multi-channel, integrated campaigns.
  • Proven art direction experience, including campaign development, shoot boarding, and on-set collaboration.
  • Experienced people manager—leading, mentoring, and managing designers and art directors, with confidence running design critiques and giving honest, constructive feedback.
  • Thoughtful, collaborative operator with strong communication skills and a calm, generous approach to creative and strategic brand partnership.
  • Strategic and pragmatic—can translate a business brief into great creative, reprioritize when priorities shift, and advocate for both the work and the team.
  • Fluency designing across digital, social, e-commerce, print, retail, and wholesale environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Figma.
  • Comfortable with project management tools.
  • Strong UX, UI and digital design principles.
  • Understanding of social-first design and content creation and digital marketing creative.
  • Experience preparing files for print production (direct mail, retail signage, packaging).

Nice To Haves

  • Comfortable exploring AI tools to support and enhance the creative output.
  • Asana and Airtable a plus.
  • Familiarity with Shopify a plus.
  • Basic motion or animation skills for digital and social assets a plus, and the ability to creative direct animators and editors as needed.
  • Illustration skills a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Steward the Frank & Eileen brand identity and spearhead the design and visual output of the creative team, evolving the visual language and holding the creative standard.
  • Concept campaigns, launches, and brand moments in partnership with creative and marketing teams, from earliest stages through creation across the brand's annual rhythm.
  • Translate every campaign and launch into a unified 360° brand experience across editorial, email, SMS, site, PDP/PLP, paid and organic social, direct mail, retail signage, in-store creative, seasonal catalogs, OOH and print advertising, and wholesale-facing materials.
  • Shape the design and visual identity of brand collaborations, partnerships, retail activations, and brand events.
  • Develop shoot boards, art direction frameworks, and on-set guidance.
  • Oversee post-production, including retouching direction, color review, editing, and final asset approvals.
  • Operate in lock-step with peer senior leads within the creative team to ensure design, copy, photo, and production functions as one connected unit.
  • Build scalable design systems and templates to protect efficiency without sacrificing creativity.
  • Partner closely with product, marketing, social, merchandising, e-commerce, and retail teams to ensure design supports brand storytelling and business performance.
  • Translate cross-functional briefs into strategic design direction, prioritizing based on business needs, advocating for the creative team and the brand, and helping the team meet deadlines and solve problems when priorities shift.
