About The Position

Frida is seeking a Design Director, Packaging to join our Marketing team based in Miami, FL. The Design Director, Packaging will lead the creative vision, strategy, and execution of packaging across Frida’s portfolio, ensuring packaging is a powerful expression of our brands and a driver of impact at shelf. This leader will set the standard for packaging design, build scalable systems as the business grows, and lead designers and creative partners from early-stage concept through final production. The ideal candidate combines exceptional design judgment with deep packaging expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to translate business and brand strategy into breakthrough creative solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design, Packaging Design, or related field preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive design experience with significant experience in packaging and consumer-facing brands, preferably within consumer packaged goods
  • Demonstrated experience leading packaging creative across a broad product portfolio, from concept development through production and launch
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional packaging design, brand storytelling, design systems, and creative thinking
  • Proven experience leading, developing, and providing creative direction to designers and production talent
  • Deep understanding of packaging design and production, including print processes, substrates, color management, prepress, file preparation, proofs, and production release
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Strong understanding of typography, photography, illustration, composition, color, and other core design disciplines
  • Experience developing scalable packaging systems and adapting creative across product lines, formats, markets, and retail environments
  • Ability to connect creative decisions to brand strategy, consumer needs, commercial objectives, and executional realities
  • Strong creative judgment with the ability to give clear, actionable feedback and confidently present and defend design recommendations to senior and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to balance ambitious creative thinking with resourcefulness, speed, and disciplined execution
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in which requirements & priorities constantly change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the creative vision and design strategy for packaging across Frida’s portfolio, ensuring packaging strengthens brand recognition, differentiation, and impact at shelf
  • Translate brand strategy, consumer insights, product positioning, and business objectives into distinctive packaging concepts and design solutions
  • Lead packaging design from early ideation and concept development through design refinement, production, quality control, and final release
  • Establish and maintain scalable packaging design systems, principles, and standards that enable consistency while supporting continued portfolio and business growth
  • Lead the creative development of packaging for new product launches, line extensions, packaging refreshes, kits, and other product-related brand experiences
  • Set a high creative bar for packaging design, typography, illustration, photography, color, materials, structure, and overall visual execution
  • Lead, develop, and inspire packaging designers and art production talent, providing clear creative direction, candid feedback, coaching, and opportunities for growth
  • Partner closely with Brand Marketing, Product Development, Operations, Regulatory, Sales, and other cross-functional teams to develop packaging solutions that balance creative ambition with consumer, commercial, operational, and technical requirements
  • Guide global packaging adaptations and partner with production designers to ensure brand and design consistency across countries, languages, formats, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee packaging through production, including concept validation, proofs, color and print quality, troubleshooting, and final approvals
  • Lead the creative vision for in-store merchandising, including displays, end caps, and other retail touchpoints, partnering with internal teams and external agencies as needed to bring the brand to life at retail
  • Evaluate and direct external design agencies, freelancers, production partners, photographers, illustrators, and other creative resources as needed
  • Partner with project management and cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize work, manage competing timelines, and ensure high-quality creative is delivered efficiently
  • Stay current on consumer, retail, packaging, design, material, printing, and technology trends, translating relevant developments into meaningful opportunities for Frida
