About The Position

Ethan Allen, a leading interior design destination, is seeking a Design Consultant to join their team. This role involves working closely with customers to create individualized design solutions, space planning, fabric coordination, product selection, and overall project design to sell Ethan Allen products and services. The position emphasizes flexible, relationship-based selling and may involve team or partnership approaches. Design Consultants are measured on performance categories such as teamwork, customer service, communication, decision-making, project development, presentation, and technical skills, as well as benchmarks including sales goals, home calls, and close ratios. Proficiency in social media for brand promotion is essential. This is a Full-Time position with incentive-based compensation determined by commissions earned, with expectations to meet or exceed minimum monthly sales and other benchmarks.

Requirements

Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant work experience.
Minimum of one (1) year of practical interior design experience.
Broad knowledge of interior design and effective sales techniques.
Working knowledge of online sales and design tools.
Good listening skills with excellent oral and written communication skills.
General understanding of how to utilize social media and grass-roots marketing to develop a book of business.
Valid driver's license, or ability to establish an alternate means of transportation.
Intermediate skill competency using digital floor planning technology.
Experience using interactive technology to view design concepts such as augmented reality, virtual reality, and other visualization tools.
Willing and capable of learning new technologies.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a design-related field from an accredited institution.
Proven experience preferred.
3D applications a plus.

Responsibilities

Create design solutions consistent with customer preferences and budget.
Sell Ethan Allen's products and services.
Represent the Ethan Allen brand in all customer interactions.
Greet customers professionally, establish rapport, and obtain appointments and in-home consultations.
Conduct home calls to evaluate customer needs and provide individualized design solutions to close sales.
Utilize grassroots marketing and social media platforms to develop and grow business.
Educate customers about Ethan Allen's complimentary design service.
Stay current on design and color trends.
Coordinate with the team to provide exceptional customer service before and after the sale, including order status updates.
Participate in corporate-sponsored marketing and training programs.
Educate customers on available Ethan Allen sponsored finance options.
Contribute to the development and upkeep of the design center's portfolio.
Utilize corporate systems and technology for efficient project design, presentations, and professional service.
Enter orders using the retail point of sale system.
Maintain a neat and orderly design center projection.
Collaborate with the Design Center Leader/Design Sales Leader and other Design Consultants to develop business and marketing plans.
Provide suggestions to modify plans based on goal achievement.
Utilize technology such as 3-D Room Planner, CRM, and Live Chat to build project volume and client relationships.
Use social media (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) to enhance personal and Ethan Allen's presence.
Build relationships with outside talent via social media (e.g., LinkedIn) to expand market network.
Perform any other required duties.
