About The Position

This role performs technical support for development engineering activities, including design, testing, checkout, fabrication, modification, and assembly of electronic and electro-mechanical systems, prototype circuitry, and specialized test equipment. The technician will apply hands-on skills to analog, digital, and video circuits and logic systems, working from schematics, diagrams, and written or verbal instructions to perform routine testing, troubleshooting, prototype builds, and environmental testing. Responsibilities include conducting operational tests and fault isolation to component level to verify conformance with design specifications, and collecting and documenting test data using standard diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, VOMs/DVMs, and signal generators. Guidance is available from superiors for more complex tasks.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED or 2 years of verified related experience.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in Electronic Engineering.
2 years of experience working with electronic products and/or motors as a part of a quality system, design or support function.
Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques.
Knowledge of quality systems measurement techniques (SPC, Pareto analysis, etc.).
Conduct tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations, including state/federal laws, ISO9001, and ISO14001.
Adhere to Rockwell Automation policies and procedures.
Work cooperatively with all external and internal customers.

Responsibilities

Analyzing returned parts and products to determine the root cause of the failure mode as provided by the customer.
Providing deliverables (i.e.: RCFA Reports, Warranty Analysis) and making sure to link/feedback the customer concerns with the Product Quality and Engineering teams.
Working from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform Design Verification (DV) and Product Validation (PV).
Working with, taking care of, and maintaining equipment in the lab.
Determining and requesting necessary equipment to perform the analysis.
Supporting different Business Units (BUs) under the direction of Project and Product Quality Engineers.
Issuing analysis reports for troubleshooting/test results or comparisons to similar designs and making recommendations for corrective action.
Executing tests for Design Verification or/and Product Validation, to make disposition, based on the performance of components and/or products to specifications.
Performing data analysis using Statistical Methodology, including MINITAB tools.
Recommending enhancements to the processes when practices deviate from documented procedures.
Making calibrated equipment available for all required tests, including applying MSA methodology as necessary.
Maintaining 5S in the job environment.
Observing all safety measures on the job.
