About The Position
Ethan Allen Design Associates interact with customers through sales and service, using their interior design knowledge to provide limited design services in partnership with a Design Consultant or manager. Design Assistants support Design Consultants and the Visual Merchandiser with tasks that help drive the business and create a successful customer experience. The role supports project development, including home calls, space planning, product selection, quotes, sketches, renderings, presentations, and custom soft goods quotes. It also supports visual merchandising and showroom upkeep, keeps current with design and color trends, enters orders and quotes in the retail point-of-sale system, and communicates with clients about appointments and order status by telephone and email.

- Demonstrated computer and social media skills.
- Must be able to work holidays, evenings, and weekends.
Nice To Haves
- B.A. degree in Interior Design or candidacy in an Interior Design program preferred.
- Previous internship or experience with a professional design firm or design-retail organization.
- Minimum one year of retail sales experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist Design Consultants with project development, including attending home calls, preparing space plans, selecting products, preparing quotes, and creating sketches and renderings.
- Set up and dismantle presentations and prepare custom soft goods quotes.
- Offer assistance and hospitality during presentations and assist clients when their requested Design Consultant is unavailable.
- Support the Visual Merchandiser in replenishing merchandise and maintaining floor displays.
- Stay current on design and color trends to create fashionable design solutions.
- Enter orders and quotes using the retail point-of-sale system.
- Communicate with clients about appointments and order status by telephone and email.
