The Role As a Design and Release Engineer - Seatbelts, you will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and release of seatbelt systems for General Motors vehicles, ensuring customer-focused solutions and robust engineering. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in automotive design and release engineering, specifically with seatbelt or restraint systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Design/Development/Integration methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with Engineering Release Systems and Teamcenter Visualization.
  • Comfortable working with multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams.
  • Ability to Lead Cross-Functional Teams effectively.
  • Highly Customer-Focused with a proven track record of delivering user-centric solutions.
  • Strong Results-Oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and forward-thinking environment.
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in automotive design and release engineering, specifically with seatbelt or restraint systems.
  • Previous DRE, Validation or Safety Integration Performance engineering experience.
  • DFSS Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of innovative and robust seatbelt systems, meeting all safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize Engineering Release Systems and Teamcenter Visualization for product data management, release, and change control.
  • Integrate seatbelt designs seamlessly into the overall vehicle architecture, collaborating with cross-functional teams including styling, packaging, manufacturing, and suppliers.
  • Lead and participate in Group Problem Solving activities to identify root causes and implement effective solutions for design and manufacturing issues.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, demonstrating a results-oriented approach to achieve program milestones through the GVDP.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on design feasibility, manufacturing processes, and quality control.
  • Conduct and oversee design validation and verification activities, including testing and analysis.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes related to seatbelt systems.
