About The Position

The Design and Engineering Systems Engineer supports the Design and Engineering team through process improvement, data management, business systems administration, and analytics. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining reporting, dashboards, workflows, and enterprise data solutions using Excel, Smartsheet, Tableau (future), and Palantir (future) to support engineering and organizational decision-making. This role partners daily with Engineers, Architects, leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to document current-state workflows, identify opportunities for efficiency, and support change management across Design and Engineering processes.

  • Panantir Foundry (preferred, not required): Experience with Palantir Foundry or similar enterprise data management and analytics platforms preferred.
  • Software Integration: Experience integrating and transforming data from multiple business systems.
  • Process improvement experience: Three or more years of experience creating, documenting, and refining processes.
  • Data collection and presentation experience: Three or more years of professional experience collecting, organizing, and presenting data.
  • Requirements gathering and solution development: Ability to engage stakeholders, document business requirements, and translate operational needs into scalable processes, systems, dashboards, and reporting solutions.
  • Interpersonal skills: Excellent ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Team collaboration: Proven team player who fosters and operates effectively within internal and external team environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead process documentation and refinement: Capture current Design and Engineering business processes, identify gaps, and refine workflows for efficiency.
  • Develop decision-support tools: Integrate data collection into processes and create reports, dashboards, and other tools that support engineering and business decisions.
  • Create process maps and SOPs: Build process maps to visualize workflows, identify automation opportunities, and document new or improved processes through Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support change management: Help develop solutions that monitor, track, and capture changes across Design and Engineering processes.
  • Structure and maintain data systems: Own and maintain Design & Engineering data structures, databases, and reporting platforms. Support integration and data flow between Smartsheet, Tableau (future), Palantir (future), Excel, and other enterprise systems.
  • Collaborate across departments: Work with Procurement, Facilities Operations, Project Managers, Utility Power, and other QTS teams to align data collection and presentation across business functions.
  • Support stakeholder engagement: Attend meetings with stakeholders to understand existing processes, gather requirements, and translate information into actionable process improvements.
  • Learn and apply new systems: Learn new software systems as needed and create tools within those systems to support the Design and Engineering team.
  • Process documentation workflows: Create and process DocuSign documents through applicable workflows.
  • Manage Design & Engineering business systems: Serve as a power user and administrator for Design & Engineering business applications, including Smartsheet and Excel. Tableau and Palantir will be used for future applications.
  • Develop analytics and dashboards: Create and maintain executive dashboards, KPIs, reports, and visualizations that provide actionable insights into Design & Engineering performance, schedules, resources, budgets, and project execution.
  • Lead Design & Engineering systems initiatives: Partner with Engineering leadership to identify, implement, and continuously improve tools, dashboards, databases, and workflows that increase organizational efficiency, data visibility, and decision-making capability.
